The Platform for Change

  1. Outlaw political lobbying by corporations, unions, non-profits, and all other political interest groups. This will be at all levels: local, state, & federal.
  2. Term limits for all elected local, state and federal officials (similar to the 22nd amendment to the Constitution)
  3. Cease and desist with the payment of public pensions to local, state, and federal elected officials. They will be eligible for immediate 401K matching funds for the duration of their terms in office. A 6% match and they can contribute more if they like. They are no more than the equals of their fellow citizens.
  4. Outlaw campaign fund raising and all private funding for local, state, and federal candidates. This campaign reform would include the exclusive use of public funds for all viable candidates for elected office. This money would be equally divided among the viable candidates in a given district. This will create an equal playing field where candidates are elected to represent their constituency based on their experience, skills, and integrity as opposed to their ability to raise money and market themselves. Our current system guarantees that the powerful and wealthy or their chosen candidates will be the only campaigns with the resources necessary to win an election. Note, this would include the abolition of all fund raising by Political Action Committees (PAC’s).
  5. Outlaw all “ear marks” or provisions that members of congress can insert into bills to steer spending toward favored projects also known as special benefits. Create a mandatory 120-hour online posting/review period for all legislation. During this time, no other insertions may occur in the legislation. This will allow for thorough staff and public review of proposed legislation before any voting. In the event of an insertion, the 120-hour period would start anew.
  6. Ban the use of presidential signing statements that allow a president to interpret what a piece of legislation means. Congress’ interpretation of legislation is the only valid statement concerning a law.
  7. Establish an extra-congressional ethics committee to investigate member conduct. This will eliminate conflict of interest and self-policing.
  8. Outlaw all deficit spending by congress (pay-as-you-go)
  9. Set limits for the size of the Federal Government (work force, money, programs, etc.)
  10. Outlaw all business subsidies for businesses with $1 million or more in annual revenue.
  11. A commitment of government funds and resources to find reliable alternative energy sources by the year 2025.
  12. A commitment to wean ourselves from dependence on fossil fuels and other non-renewable resources by the year 2030.
  13. A redirection of public funds to help all citizens realize their human dignity and set them on the road to personal success. That is education, healthcare, housing, food, employment, etc.
  14. Put an end to American empire building by making it impossible for the President and Congress to commit aggression toward a foreign entity without a national referendum ratifying such an action
  15. An immediate cessation of hostilities with other nations and groups. Troop withdrawals will indicate our respect for other sovereign peoples. These troop withdrawals are not to be immediate but rather mediated with the occupied nations.

Who will join us in this revolution?

Who will use their free speech to say, ‘I will no longer tolerate the injustice of a have and a have-nots economy?’

Who will stand and say that all humans have a right to food, clothing, healthcare, housing, education, & employment? Let us stand united and be heard.
